In this passage, we see the sovereignty of God in his entire plan to redeem His people. There are those who are blinded to true faith by false religion. There are those who have fake faith and are self-deceived. Yet we see the overriding grace and plan of God as He saves his true people. "For while we were still helpless, at the
right time Christ died for the ungodly" (Romans 5:6).
