Hope Amidst Chaos: Trust & Obey! | Zechariah 6:9–15 | Message 11 | 09/29/24
Monday Sep 30, 2024
Monday Sep 30, 2024
Zechariah 6:9–15 is a dream about the coming Messiah. In the dream, God confirms that several Jewish exiles will return to reestablish the crown of God's king at Jerusalem. Then, a man called, "The Branch," will rebuild the temple of God. This man, is Jesus Christ, whom Jeremiah predicts in Jeremiah 23:5-6. Jesus is the priest-king on the royal throne (Zechariah 6:13). His crown is a reminder to the people of the restoration of Jerusalem. Not only that, Jesus brings all sorts of people who are far off to help rebuild the temple. Now, the temple described in this passage is both literal and metaphorical. Historically, exiles from Babylon return and rebuild a temple. But ultimately, the temple that Jesus is building is the church (Matthew 16:18) that will be present in the heavenly Jerusalem (1 Peter 2:4–5). Those who place their faith in Jesus Christ will be part of this new temple and will experience God's eternal blessings in their lives (Zechariah 6:15).

God Prevails--Hostiles Eliminated | Zechariah 6:1–8 | Message 10 | 09/22/24
Monday Sep 23, 2024
Monday Sep 23, 2024
Continuing our series in the book of Zechariah, Pastor Andrew preaches from Zechariah 6: 1-8. In this passage, we learn about the eighth dream in a series of eight dreams that Zechariah had in one night. In this dream, Zechariah sees four horsemen on patrol, sent from the Lord's presence. The chariots represent the Lord's judgment against the wickedness of this earth. As believers, we can see in this passage that the LORD is sovereign over all nations and His purposes will prevail. We remember that GOD has all things in hand, no matter how out of control our world may appear. “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2). We ought to live in joyful obedience to Jesus and be devoted to building His temple -- the church, not
complacent or comfortable in a world coming to judgment. Ultimately, we know Christ has certain victory!

A Woman in a Flying Basket | Zechariah 5:5–11 | Message 9 | 09/15/2024
Monday Sep 16, 2024
Monday Sep 16, 2024
Continuing our series in the book of Zechariah, Pastor Andrew preaches from Zechariah 5: 5-11. In this passage, we learn about the seventh dream in a series of eight dreams that Zechariah had in one night. In this dream, Zechariah sees a woman in a flying basket. The point of the dream is to confront Israel's past sin and rebellion. God confronts Israel's past sin and rebellion by reminding them of his great salvation, by reminding them of the Levitical requirement for sacrifice, by pointing them to the future hope of the Messiah's coming, and by admonishing them to repent and obey. A great threat for Christians today is the same as it was in Zechariah’s day: the seductiveness of the wickedness and idols of the Babylon of our age. God’s true people must see through the deception and remain in repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus (see Acts 20:21).

A Flying Scroll | Zechariah 5:1-11 | Message 8 | 09/08/2024
Monday Sep 09, 2024
Monday Sep 09, 2024
Continuing our series in the book of Zechariah, Pastor Andrew preaches from Zechariah 5: 1-11. In this passage, we learn about the sixth dream in a series of eight dreams that Zechariah had in one night. In this dream, Zechariah sees a flying scroll with a judgment from the Lord. We see in this dream that God does not allow sin to go unpunished. Those who have been sinned against have comfort that God will deal with the perpetrators. Those who have sinned are warned that they need to repent and seek God’s mercy. We also see the reassuring truth that those who look to God’s Messiah, Jesus Christ, find His mercy and grace. Those who reject God’s Messiah will experience His judgment and wrath.

Learn and See God’s Faithfulness | Zechariah 4:1-14 | Message 7 | 09/01/2024
Monday Sep 02, 2024
Monday Sep 02, 2024
In today's sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Zechariah 4: 1-14. In this passage, Zechariah has the fifth dream in a series of 8 dreams he receives from the Lord in one night. The fourth and fifth dreams are the climax of the eight dreams and both point to the Messianic kingdom. In Zechariah 4: 1-14, we look at the fifth dream, which depicts a lampstand with two olive trees by it. The seven lamps of the lampstand represent the presence of God. The two olive trees represent God's priest and God's king. Through this dream, we see the big picture message that God's kingdom comes through his Priest and King--Jesus Christ!

In today's sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Zechariah 3: 1-10. In this passage, Zechariah has the fourth dream in a series of 8 dreams he receives from the Lord in one night. This fourth dream depicts Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord in filthy clothing. In the dream, the angel of the Lord removes the filthy clothing and gives Joshua pure and clean clothing. The angel of the Lord also prophecies of "the Branch"--the coming Messiah--who will bring salvation and cleansing. We see many important truths in this passage. We see that God CHOOSES and PURSUES his people, despite their uncleanness and sinfulness. We see that God RESTORES sinful humanity through the Savior, Jesus Christ. We see that through restoration with God, we are restored to loving relationships with OTHERS!

A City of Glory | Zechariah 2:1-13 | Message 5 | 08/18/24
Monday Aug 19, 2024
Monday Aug 19, 2024
In today's sermon, Enrique Rojas preaches on Zechariah 2: 1-13. In this passage, we see God's response to his people when they were left discouraged and without an identity after their return from exile. We see that God has begun a work of restoration in his people--protecting them and placing his glory on them. We also see that God restore ALL of the nations--he will bring his peace and salvation to all who turn to him. Several take-aways are clear in this passage. We see that Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of these promises in Zechariah, we understand that Christians are called to flee wickedness and run towards godliness, we ought to celebrate and be filled with joy for we are the nations experiencing a joining with God, and we ought to turn from rebellion against the Lord and turn to Christ, for the Lord is coming.

In today's sermon, Pastor Andrew continues a series in the book of Zechariah, preaching from Zechariah 1: 18-21. In this passage, we learn of Zechariah's second dream in a series of 8 dreams he receives from the Lord in one night. The second dream is of four horns and four craftsmen. The four horns signify military might and power coming from all directions. The four craftsmen are the rebuilders of the temple. This sermon explores the big picture of Zechariah's second dream--that God is going to lead the Israelites to rebuild the temple, bringing ultimate restoration.
God is also going to crush the pagan nations, bringing ultimate judgment.

In this sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Zechariah 1: 7-17, where Zechariah receives 8 dreams from the Lord in one night. As we dig into this passage, we see that God is sending a specific message to Zechariah--a message of hope and of comfort. God shows Zechariah His heart, which is a heart of grace and of kindness. God communicates his jealousy for His people -- He loves them and is concerned for them; He shows His anger with the pagan nations that went too far against His people; He demonstrates His mercy and generous presence with His people; and He shows His mercy and comfort in CHOOSING Jerusalem again. This passage should cause us to ask ourselves--Am I mature enough to see and receive God’s grace and mercy in His correction?
Can I hear His words and trust Him amidst His discipline?

In this big picture overview of Zechariah's message, Pastor Andrew Coleman digs deep into the background of the prophets of the Old Testament, and especially Ezekiel 8–11. The Old Testament sets the stage for understanding better the gospel of God. One of the most important aspects of God's Gospel is His presence in the midst of His people. Whenever God is present with His people, they experience His blessings. Whenever God is absent, His people experience curses. Ultimately, God's presence is restored through the great redemption of Jesus Christ, of whom Zechariah prophesied. The question Zechariah wants us to ask ourselves is this: How important is God's presence in my life?
