In today's sermon, we continue our study in the book of Mark and look at Mark 11: 12-20. In this passage, we see two scenarios—one, of Jesus cursing the fig tree, and two, of Jesus throwing the money changers from the temple. These two are connected in an important way. We notice Jesus’s judgment of the fig tree as a prefigured judgment of the temple. Then, we see Jesus’s judgment of fraudulent religion in the temple as He expresses His holy wrath and rage against this great ungodliness of thievery and hypocrisy. In these accounts, we see that having the foliage of religion is not necessarily indicative of the fruit of a true relationship with God. We must ask ourselves—does Jesus need to clear some things out of the temple of your heart?
Are there fraudulent attitudes or actions that hinder the purity of your worship?

Praise the Lord! | Mark 11: 1-11 | Gospel of Mark (Msg 50) | 9/17/2023
Monday Sep 18, 2023
Monday Sep 18, 2023
In today's sermon, we continue our study in the book of Mark and look at Mark 11: 1-11. In this passage, we see that Jesus is worthy of praise! We see that Jesus willingly lays down His life to save sinners, because he wants to redeem us. We see Jesus demonstrate that he is a righteous, humble, peaceful deliverer by his entry into Jerusalem on a lowly donkey. Ultimately, we see that Jesus is the Lord of lords and King of kings, and that one day Jesus will return again, appearing triumphantly on a white horse (Revelation 19: 11-16). Jesus ultimately intends to right the wrongs of our fallen world. He wants us to hope in His sovereign rule and final verdict, and He will settle all matters when He returns!

In today's sermon, we continue our study in the book of Mark and look at Mark 10: 36-52, where we read the account of the blind man Bartimaeus encountering Jesus Christ. In this passage, we see a beautiful truth--that Jesus HEARS those who cry out for mercy in faith. Jesus cares about our trouble and suffering, and he has the power to heal your broken life and to save your eternal soul.

In today's sermon, Pastor Ruben Hernandez preaches on Mark 10: 32-34. In this passage, we see Jesus boldly face the path to the cross. As we dig into this passage and contemplate what it means for us, we see the attitude that Christ has toward saving his beloved. John 15:20 tells us, “ ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.” For believers, we must understand that we will sometimes face difficulty, trials, or persecution because we are following Jesus. As we encounter trials brought on by our association with Jesus, let us face them boldly after the manner he set before us.

Then Who Can Be Saved? | Mark 10:17-31 | Gospel of Mark (Msg 47) | 8/27/2023
Monday Aug 28, 2023
Monday Aug 28, 2023
In today's sermon, we look at Mark 10: 17-31 where Jesus responds to a rich young ruler. In this passage, Jesus uses hyperbole to reveal the impossibility of anyone saving themselves. Salvation is only of, from, and by God. Salvation does not come by status, riches or keeping the Law but by faith in the God who saves, rewards and uses His people. Christ calls you to surrender all to Him in repentance and trust. He will reward!

In today's sermon, we dig into Mark 10: 17-31 and observe Jesus answering questions from a rich man. In this passage, we see that religion and wealth can keep a person from eternal life. Throughout the gospel of Mark, Jesus always cuts right to the heart of an issue. He knows what is in every person's heart, and he knows what idols are holding people back from him. In this case, materialism was the idol keeping the man from truly following Jesus. We must ask ourselves--is there an idol in our hearts and lives (either materialism or something else) that is keeping us from wholeheartedly following Jesus? It is always worth it to say no to pursuing our idols and yes to following Jesus!
"Jesus said, 'Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not
receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.'" Mark 10:29-30

In this week's sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 10: 13-16, looking at the account of Jesus taking little children to him and blessing them. In this passage, we see a counter-cultural message--Jesus teaches that children do not have to become more like adults, but instead
adults have to become more like children in order to come to Jesus! In order to receive Jesus' salvation and blessing, we must come to him with child-like faith.

In today's sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches from Mark 10: 35-45. In this passage, we see that Jesus has commanded us to make disciples, that disobedience to this command comes at a very high price, and that there is no greater thrill than being used by God in His coming kingdom. ________________________________________

In today's passage, Mark 10: 1-12, we look for a second week at Jesus' discussion with the Pharisees and with his disciples about marriage and divorce. The Pharisees approach Jesus and test him with a question--"Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?" Jesus responds by circumventing the trap that the Pharisees were trying to set for him, and he immediately went to the heart of the issue and referred back to Genesis to look at God's original intent for marriage. In today's sermon, we see that God gave us marriage as an earthly illustration of His eternal relationship with us. Divorce destroys that incredibly important illustration. Thus, our greatest hope is to look to Christ, learn of Christ, apply the Gospel of holiness, grace and forgiveness, stay in the truth and stay with His people
