In today's sermon on Mark 7: 14-23, we see the beauty of the Gospel--that through Jesus Christ we are offered true hope of SALVATION. Without Christ, we are spiritually dead and totally depraved before God. Without Christ, we are hopelessly lost in the darkness of our own sin. BUT IN CHRIST, we have been given the greatest gift--the gift of a new heart cleansed of all sin and impurity and of eternal salvation through Him!

In today's sermon, Enrique Rojas preaches on March 7: 1-13 as we continue through the Gospel of Mark. The scribes and pharisees had come to Jesus looking to confront him on his failure to observe certain traditions and rituals. Jesus, however, turns and confronts their legalism. The scribes and pharisees prioritized human traditions over the Scripture. Jesus taught the opposite--that Scripture always trumps human traditions. We must ask ourselves--are we trusting in Christ and in his death on the cross and his resurrection? Or are we trusting in traditions or rules apart from Christ? To Jesus, the issue is always the heart, and faith in him and obedience to him is the key to salvation!

In this sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman continues his sermon series through the Gospel of Mark and expounds on Mark 6: 53-56. In our previous messages, we saw in Mark 6: 30 that Jesus had told his disciples to "come away...and rest a while". Yet right after that, crowds follow Jesus and his disciples and the feeding of the five thousand take place (Msg 24). Jesus then sends the disciples into a boat and tells them to head toward Bethsaida. Yet on the way, the disciples run into a storm and Jesus comes to them on the water and calms the storm (Msg 25). Because of the storm, their course is changed and they end up in Gennesaret. Again, Jesus and the disciples are faced with great sickness and brokenness. Jesus responds with great compassion and teaches and heals the people there.
In this passage, we see that the "rest" Jesus told his disciples to take is delayed or at least is very different from what we picture as "rest". Yet Jesus had a perfect plan through the delays and through the storm. He demonstrated more of His character & attributes to his disciples through these circumstances. And as they followed him in ministry, they saw his deep compassion for the hurt and broken and his heart to HEAL, both physically as well as spiritually, those who seek him.

In this sermon, Pastor Andrew preaches from Mark 6: 45-52 and teaches on the account of Jesus coming to his disciples on the stormy waves of the Sea of Galilee. In this account, we see Jesus in full control of a dire situation for the disciples. Jesus saw the disciples struggling in their boat out in the storm, and he allowed them to continue in this scary situation for a while because he had a great purpose in store. Yet He did not leave them in their struggle. In "the fourth watch of the night", Jesus came to his disciples, walking on the stormy Sea of Galilee. When they saw him, they were terrified. But Jesus revealed himself to them--"It is I. Do not be afraid." In this moment, through his words and through his actions, Jesus reveals his true identity once again to his disciples. Yet their hearts were still hardened--they did not yet understand Jesus' true identity as the Christ, the Son of God.

In this sermon, Pastor Ben Nistor preaches on Mark 6: 30-44, which tells the account of Jesus feeding the thousands from five loaves and two fish. This account is significant in many ways, one of which is that besides the Resurrection, the feeding of thousands is the only other miracle recorded by ALL FOUR Gospel writers. In this passage we see that Jesus is the compassionate Good Shepherd who disrupts the laws of nature to bring about His divine purpose. We see that by feeding thousands, Jesus wants to show His divine power, compassion, and purpose. Jesus uses physical miracles, such as this miraculous intervention in nature to multiply the loaves and fish, to point us to spiritual realities and to cause spiritual awakenings in our hearts.

Pastor Andrew Coleman continues our sermon series in the Gospel of Mark by preaching on Mark 6: 14-29. In this passage, we hear the account of King Herod beheading God's greatest prophet, John the Baptist. We see the desperate wickedness of those who do not trust in Christ and the misguided lifestyles of those who reject God's Word. Yet we also see that God continues to carry out his grand plan of redemption through the faith of his people, even in the midst of suffering and great evil doing. As believers, we should remember that God is more intent on proving and growing our faith in Him than in rescuing us from all our trials in this life. Ask yourself--What do I fear more: lack of faith or suffering?

Pastor Andrew Coleman continues our sermon series in the Gospel of Mark by preaching on Mark 6: 14-29. This sermon discusses the significance of one of God's greatest prophets--John the Baptist. Consider the seriousness with which John approached his life and call. John LIVED to introduce others to Christ. That was his only concern. What about us? Are we living to show Christ to others?

Erique Rojas continues our sermon series in the Gospel of Mark by preaching on Mark 6: 6-15. In this passage, Jesus sends out his disciples two by two to preach the gospel to the surrounding towns and villages. This sermon draws out four principles from this passage that we should remember as we minister to those around us. First, that teaching God's Word should be our MAIN priority. Second, that the mission of the Gospel is done THROUGH THE CHURCH. Third, that the message of the Gospel is URGENT. Finally, that Christians are called to TRUST GOD AND SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY.

Pastor Andrew Coleman continues our sermon series in the Gospel of Mark by preaching on Mark 6: 1-6. This passage tells the account of Jesus returning to his hometown, only to be met with unbelief, doubt, and offense by the people who knew him there. In this account, we see a clear picture of the great problem of unbelief. So what is unbelief? Unbelief is the greatest problem of the human heart and mind. Unbelief and hardness of heart go hand in hand. Unbelief is the opposite of belief or faith in God. Unbelief has been present since the beginning of time -- and it is always accompanied by devastating consequences! How can believers fight against unbelief on a daily basis? Psalm 95:7-11 and Hebrews 3:15 speak to this. "As it is said, 'Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.'" And in Mark 1:15, Jesus began by preaching... “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Pastor Andrew Coleman continues a sermon series in the Gospel of Mark and preaches on Mark 5: 21-43. In this passage, Jesus shows himself to be the Lord with great pity and great power. In the stories of Jesus' healing of the woman who had a discharge and of Jesus' raising of a little girl from the dead, we see Jesus' tremendous pity and compassion toward those who are hurting, both in his words and his actions. We also see that Jesus has unlimited power over sickness and death. Although Jesus has great concern for the physical well-being of people, he has an even greater concern for their spiritual healing.
