In today's sermon (Part 1), Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 9: 42-50. In this message, we see that leading fellow believers to sin is a very serious offense to God. We see Christ’s call to actively, seriously mortify (kill) our sin. As believers, we must respond to this passage through radical obedience to Christ and through living for Christ with our entire life. By living in obedience to Christ, we will experience God’s preservation and we will be a witness of Christ to those around us.

In Mark 9:38-41, Jesus emphasizes humility in kingdom work. Pride has no place among God’s people which often is a sign of false teaching. Even though we may not fully understand how God works through others, we can be certain that God is always doing more than we realize. We must simply be humble and ready to be used by God.

In Mark 9: 14-29, Pastor Ben Nistor preaches on the stark difference between the disciples and the man seeking help when it comes to belief in the sovereign authority of Christ. It is not the man seeking help that lacks faith, but the disciples. Belief in Christ is the vehicle for unleashing the infinite power of God for His purposes in the world. Prayerlessness is a sign of unbelief, which prevents the unleashing of God’s infinite power for His purposes.

In today's sermon, we look at Mark 9: 9-13 and discuss the meaning of the true Gospel. The distinguishing mark of the true church has always been that it centrally proclaims the DEATH and RESURRECTION of Christ and that there is NO SALVATION apart from Jesus Christ. God's immense love is shown through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As Romans 5: 8 says--"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

In today's sermon, we look at Mark 8: 34-9:1 and see Christ's command to his disciples to forsake all for the sake of following Christ. In this passage we see that if anyone would follow Jesus, they must love Jesus so much that they would be willing to make Jesus’s journey to the cross, which is filled with self-denial, opposition, shame, suffering, temptations, service and ultimately
death, their own journey in life. True disciples see Jesus’s cross-destined journey and gladly make it their own. By doing so, they gain eternal life and approval. True disciples have such a strong love for and loyalty to Jesus that they’re willing to lay everything aside for
the surpassing worth of Christ and the Gospel.

In today's sermon, we look again at Mark 8: 22-38 and see that Jesus' trajectory is now being made clear--he is headed to death. The cross was not a surprise or an accident, nor was the resurrection. It was all part of God's marvelous redemptive plan! We also see Peter criticize Jesus in this passage, and we see Jesus rebuke Peter for his Satanic, worldly thinking. Through this passage, we see Satan’s constant distraction from God’s eternal plan.Yet we can rejoice in and confidently proclaim (as Peter eventually would) that Christ’s life, death and resurrection brings us to life and union with God.

This sermon is part 2 of a study of Mark 8: 22-38. In this sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman draws attention to Jesus' question--"Who do you say that I am?" to his disciples, as well as to Peter's response--"You are the Christ." Jesus' question is the most important question we can ask ourselves, and the answer we give is equally important. The Bible teaches us that "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him" (John 3:36).

In today's sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 8: 22-38 and digs into the significance of Jesus' two-step healing of a blind man. Ultimately, in this passage we see that there is purpose in EVERYTHING God does in the Gospel of Mark, in the Bible, in the world, and in us. More than that, God’s purposes are always and ultimately good, holy and true.
