In this passage, Jesus’ Deity is clear. Through his own WORDS of Deity through the Scriptures and through his WORKS of Deity as he performs works & miracles in the Gospels. Specifically in Mark 4:35-41, Jesus miraculously calms the storm and shows his Deity by controlling the storm through his spoken word, “Peace! Be still.” This was a learning experience for the disciples. They had great fear and doubt—the absence of faith—and Jesus rebuked them. He wanted their faith in him to grow. As we study this passage, we should ask ourselves, “What will I do with my storm? How will I respond to Jesus and to his work in my life?”

In this sermon, Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 4: 21-34 and digs into three of Jesus’ parables to explore the signs of FAITHFUL and FRUITFUL hearers of the Gospel. In the parables of The Lamp Under a Basket, The Mystery of the Growth & Harvest, and The Mustard Seed: Tiny to Great, it becomes clear that faithful & fruitful hearers of the Gospel understand the clear expectation to share the Gospel of Christ with others, take action in the work of the harvest, and trust in the Lord to fulfill his work and promises.

Pastor Ben Nistor preaches on Mark 4:1–20, the Parable of the Sower. This parable teaches us three things: 1) God sows his Word to all types of people, 2) the ground that rejects the Word is fruitless, and 3) the ground that receives the Word is fruitful. Satan sometimes steals the world immediately with force; sometimes he does it slowly with suffering; other times, he does it tactically with things. But the good soil hears, receives and accepts God's Word. God's Word ALWAYS accomplishes its purpose, and therefore, those who have faith in Christ will bear fruit.

Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 3: 20-35 as we continue our expositional sermon series in the Gospel of Mark. This passage outlines varied responses to Jesus Christ--Is Jesus a liar, a lunatic, or Lord? In Mark 3: 20-35, Jesus's family claims that he is out of his mind. The scribes and the pharisees claim that he is a liar. But as Jesus's family waits outside for Jesus to come to them, he reveals to the crowd that he is Lord and that the Lord's TRUE family are those who obey Him as Lord and follow his will.

Pastor Ben Nistor preaches on Mark 3: 7-19 as we continue our expositional sermon series in the Gospel of Mark. This sermon digs into the traits of TRUE disciples of Jesus Christ. It is possible to know all about Jesus, believe in God, or even do all the things that a believer of Jesus would do WITHOUT having true faith in Jesus Christ. In fact, we are told in the book of James that "even the demons believe--and shudder." So what is different about a true disciple of Jesus Christ? True disciples are committed followers of Jesus Christ, they are obedient worshippers of Christ, and they are divinely called by Jesus Christ.

Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 2: 18-3: 6 as we continue our expositional sermon series in the Gospel of Mark. This sermon digs into the meaning of the Biblical Sabbath, or "Shabbat", and how following the Sabbath was a sign of faith in God's Old Testament people. Sadly, the true meaning of Sabbath became distorted over the years as the religious leaders began to impose their own rules onto the Mosaic Law over a period of 1,500 years. In Mark 2: 18-3: 6, we see two accounts of Jesus going against the self-imposed rules of the religious leaders. In these accounts, Jesus blasts their hard hearted distortion of the Sabbath by revealing that he is the true authority over Sabbath. In fact, in the New Testament, Jesus and Paul make clear that the Sabbath has passed away and is replaced by Jesus Christ as the sign of God's New Testament people.

Pastor Andrew Coleman preaches on Mark 2: 18-22 as we continue our expositional sermon series in the Gospel of Mark. This passage focuses on three analogies that Jesus uses to emphasize the difference between the fake religion of the Pharisees and the true faith of those who follow Jesus Christ. God is not interested in a show of religion, but he IS interested in true relationship with his people! In this passage, Jesus blasts away the false religion of works-based salvation. True salvation can only come through complete trust in Christ's righteousness and NOT in our own righteousness.

Pastor Ben Nistor preaches on Mark 2: 13-17 as we continue our expositional sermon series in the Gospel of Mark. This passage emphasizes what kind of Savior Jesus is--He is the Savior who eats with sinners. This sermon focuses on the company Christ keeps, and specifically the type of people he befriends. Christ does not follow the rules of his adversaries; rather, he obeys God's law. Christ can save people from any background. Christ does not condone sin, but he expects faith for righteous living. Christ experiences death so we can be redeemed and Christ expects faith so we can be righteous.

Pastor William Lawler preaches on Mark 2: 1-12 as we continue our expositional sermon series in the Gospel of Mark. This passage emphasizes that Jesus ALONE has the authority to forgive sins, so he ALONE deserves our trust and our worship! In this passage, a group of friends brings their paralyzed friend to Jesus. Their actions show great compassion for their friend, as well as incredible faith in Jesus. This story is a moving account that reminds us of Jesus' authority over all things--most importantly, the forgiveness of sins. Jesus' great power is also demonstrated by the incredible healing of the man's paralyzed body. When we see God's great authority and power, our natural response should be to worship our great God!
